Blantyre Sports Club Golf Section says the forthcoming Hotel Victoria Match-play has all the ingredients to provide an exciting finish.
The competition has been running for almost six months and Nasir Surtee and Furkani Gani, who ironically manages Hotel Victoria, will battle it out in the final on Saturday.
BSC Golf Captain, Webster Kaunga, said it has been an exciting journey on which over 60 golfers failed to reach the final.
“We are glad that Hotel Victoria decided to sponsor a Match-play as opposed to the other format,” he said.
Match-play is a scoring system for golf in which a player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents.
“This is as opposed to stroke play, which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes,” he said.
Kaunga hailed Hotel Victoria for supporting the tournament through its subsidiaries Victoria Gardens and Victoria Catering.
Hotel Victoria Marketing Manager, Emma Chithenga, said they decided to support golf to interact with their clients.
“Most of the golfers are our clients. Besides that our manager Furkani Gani is also a member of Blantyre Sports Club golf committee. We will use the tournament to explain to the golfers that Victoria Gardens has a multipurpose hall and it has the capacity to host different activities,” she said.
The winner will cart home a K100, 000 Into Sports voucher with the runner-up pocketing K75, 000.
