A Liwonde-based teacher, Martha Kavala, on Wednesday emerged the overall winner of a K20 million house in NBS Bank’s Nyumba Yanga promotion.
The final draw of the promotion was conducted at the bank’s head office in Blantyre.
NBS Head of Personal and Business Banking, Mercus Chigoga, said the promotion was aimed at uplifting the customer’s lives while at the same time encouraging them to save.
He said through the promotion, the bank saw an increase in deposits by 13 percent.
“The promotion was a success. We saw huge participation from our customers as about 26,000 were eligible for the promotion.
“Apart from that, from the three years we have been running this promotion, women have emerged grand prize winners which give us confidence that the participation is across the board,” said Chigoga.
When contacted, Kavala could not believe her luck and thanked God for being the lucky winner.
“I cannot believe this! I have nothing to say. Right now am in tears. I only thank God for this,” said Kavala.
Before the grand draw, the bank also conducted a monthly draw for the month of July, which saw a Mr Chibamu emerging first prize winner and pocketed K250,000.
Dingani Nyirenda and Ian Chidyaonga, both holders of minor accounts, emerged second and third prize winner and each went with K150,000 and K100,000, respectively.
