AICC lobbying for sustainable projects

The African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) says Malawi can only experience sustainable development if non-governmental organisations (NGOs) start engaging the private sector and not just government on development issues.

AICC says all players need to get involved and make use of multi-sector platforms and private sector partnerships in their development programmes.

Chief Executive Officer of AICC, Felix Lombe, said this when the organisation unveiled corporate citizenship manuals to raise awareness around the corporate citizenship phenomenon.

“Development can only be achieved in a situation where all players involved be it private sector, government, NGOs or the community play their part,” Lombe said.

Lombe said unless NGOs in Africa collaborate with government as well as the private sector, the depth of their development interventions will continue to have short term impacts.

The six manuals that were unveiled include Corporate Citizenship Manual, Guidelines for Private Sector Investment in Agriculture in Malawi, A Handbook on Facilitating Market Access and Linkages and Guidelines o f Establishment and Development of Innovations Platforms in Agriculture Value Chains.
