Seasoned golfer Sunil Godambe had every reason to walk his shoulders high after emerging as champion of National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Golf competition held at Lilongwe Golf Club over the weekend.
Godambe counted out Thakor Mahindra on 70 points to win the competition. Mahindra came second followed by Innocent Kwenda on 71 points.
In his victory speech, Godambe hailed the bank for sponsoring the golf competition.
“I am really excited with the victory. I played some good round of golf and I was composed,” Godambe said.
In the ladies’ category, Regina Mwanza continued with her impressive run when she emerged as champion with 75 points followed by Sheila Chinkhandwe, who counted out Sandra Komakech on 77 points.
Komakech came third in the competition that attracted 119 golfers.
All the winners received various prizes, courtesy of the bank, whose Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Macfussy Kawawa, was impressed with the huge turn up.
“We organise these tournaments to network with our customers. It is also a good opportunity for the customers to relax,” Kawawa said.
