Blantyre Sports Club Ladies’ Golf Section Captain, Connie Muguvu- Karuku, was in top form when she won the TNM Ladies’ golf tournament.

Playing off handicap 16, Muguvu-Karuku grossed 91 and a net of 75 to emerge the champion followed by veteran Margaret Mkwanda’s gross of 100 and a net of 78.

Muguvu-Karuku said it was a double celebration on her part after winning the accolade.

“Firstly, the turnout was quite massive. Then as a club, we have grown with nine new members. Obviously, winning is a good feeling,” she said.

Zita Rodrick hit the longest drive on hole eight, whereas Immaculate Kachapira won the nearest to-the pin on hole 14.

In the men’s category, Mayamiko Kalizang’oma, playing off handicap 16, emerged number one with 35 points, followed by Phillip Madinga with 32 points.

Charles Merrick hit the longest drive on hole 14.

TNM Head of Region, David Nyirenda, said they were pleased to contribute to the development of ladies’ golf.

“We often sponsor golf at different venues. These events create a platform where we meet to get feedback on the services we provide as well as introducing new services,” he said.
