Sweden-based striker Tabitha Chawinga says she is being haunted by injuries this season.
In an interview on Monday, the Kvarnsverdens IK striker admitted that she has struggled in the top- flight Swedish league having scored six goals, six adrift of current leading goal scorer in 11 games this season.
“I have started the season on a bad note due to injuries. I have been playing some games on pain-killers and bandages. For instance, I have played five games with an ankle injury and three games with a hip injury, but slowly I am getting better,” Chawinga explained.
However, the former DVD Sunshine Chawinga was confident of winning the top goal scorer award for a third consecutive year in Sweden.
“I have a good record in Sweden because I have won the Golden Boot twice in two years and I will work hard to preserve my record,” she said.
Chawinga finished as the top goal scorer in two consecutive seasons in the third and second-tier leagues.
Last season, Chawinga netted 43 goals to guide her side to an automatic promotion to the top flight league.
She also finished as the top goal scorer in her debut season with 38 goals when playing for Krokom / Dvarssatts.
