Amazing Joy Choir launches debut album

Amazing Joy Choir of the Church of African Presbyterian (CAP) at Kameza on Sunday made history when they launched their first ever album titled Anzanga Tiyeni Kwa Yesu at Ayoba Hall in Machinjiri, Blantyre.

The launch attracted an impressive audience and saw the presence of well known gospel musicians including Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Thocco Katimba and Limbani Simenti.

However, the three artists, who were a centre of attraction to the audience and attracted cheers once they stepped into the hall, performed using CDs.

Kamwendo Banda, who has always performed live apologised to the audience for performing with a CD saying the organisers had a problem.

“Next time we wil l perform live. I actually don’t perform using a CD but we had a problem so there was nothing we could have done,” said the Ndiumboni star, who closed the chapter.

Several choirs also spiced up the launch.

As headliners, Amazing Joy Choir performed live backed by Monarchy Band but there were gaps in terms of sound which was not that clear and this also made it difficult for the audience to appreciate the performance.

With time running out, the 25 member group did not perform all the songs from their 10- track album before the auction which saw several people making contributions.

The group’s deputy director Yonamu Msumba said Amazing Joy was formed long time ago but didn’t have an album hence Malawians should now brace for more performances from them.

“We started recording the album in 2014 so it has taken us time and all we want is to preach the word of God to the world,” said Msumba.
