Robins Park in Blantyre will Friday night play host to veteran musician Giddes Chalamanda’s Coming to America farewell show.

The show moves to Blantyre having also been held in Lilongwe last Friday.

The stage promises fireworks as, apart from the main man Giddes, people will also be treated to performances from Patience Namadingo, Edgar ndi Davis Band which is led by lawyers Davis Njobvu and Edgar Kachere, Dan Lufani and reggae group Black Missionaries.

Njobvu said yesterday that all was set for the farewell show and called on people to come in large numbers.

“Last Friday we were in Lilongwe and the show was massive and so we also expect the same in Blantyre. This is a farewell show for Giddes Chalamanda, who is set to make a historical trip to America,” said Njobvu.

Giddes is expected to leave the country for United States of America alongside Edgar ndi Davis Band and Namadingo by Wednesday.

He said the show will give them time to bid farewell to the people ahead of the trip.

“As I said this is a historical trip so we had to hold farewell shows. We are thankful to people for patronising all our previous fundraising shows,” he said.

Blacks lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani said yesterday that they were ready for the show.

“We are ready people should come and support Giddes. This is a farewell show so we all have to be there and give him a perfect time before he leaves for US,” said Anjiru.

Meanwhile Giddes and Edgar ndi Davis Band will on Sunday also perform at Premier Lodge in Chileka.
