Controversial Zambian musician Clifford Dimba, commonly known as General Kanene, is set to perform in the country courtesy of Skeffa Chimoto and his Real Sounds.
This will not be the first time for General Kanene to perform in the country, but it will be the first time to perform since he was jailed before being pardoned.
General Kanene, was convicted in 2014 and sentenced to 18 years in prison, but was pardoned by President Edgar Lungu after serving one year.
Skeffa said yesterday that General Kanene has been eager to come again to Malawi for live performances but he was busy.
“I have been busy to bring General Kanene after his several requests but this time around, I felt it was all okay. So there are several shows lined up and we are starting with the Northern Region before shifting to the other regions,” he said.
According to the poster which The Daily Times has seen, the first show is on July 1 at Boma Park in Mzuzu before moving to Planet Entertainment Centre in Karonga on July 2 with the last show on July 3 at Mzuzu Tourist Lodge.
“It’s been sometime since General Kanene performed in the country so this is a perfect platform for people to watch his live acts once again. We just want to appeal to people to come and patronise the shows,” he said.
The other artists set to perform during the shows include Lenzoh Mshanga, Kanthu Kalinda alias Kaka and Thomas Zimitsani.
