As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Airtel Malawi hosted a brail competition to the tune of K4.5 million targeting students from over 40 schools.

Airtel Malawi Director of Enterprise, Rachel Mijinga, said Airtel considers education as a key tool which can be used to accelerate national development.

“We are proud to be associated with this great cause. The Braille Cup remains the only national cup that seeks to empower visually impaired and blind students in Malawi,” Mijiga said.

She said Airtel believes the competition is instrumental in empowering visually impaired students to become active citizens that stand to effectively contribute to the development of this country.

“Again and again it has been said, disability is not an inability and we can all testify today that the outcome of this competition underlines this,” said Mijiga.

Shire Highlands Education Division Manager Christopher Naunje thanked Airtel for the support
