Inactivity bites Nomads hard

Be Forward Wanderers may be enjoying one of the best sponsorship packages in the country, but they are feeling the effects of three weeks of inactivity due to national team engagements.

The Nomads have contributed five players to the Flames at the ongoing Cosafa Castle Cup in Namibia, hence Super League of Malawi exemp ted Wander e r s and Nyasa Big Bullets from league matches.

Wanderers’ last competitive game was against Moyale in Mzuzu last month.

Wanderers General Secretary, Mike Butao, said his club pays its players from match revenue.

“We have some players who came after we had already used up our transfer funds. So, we reached a parallel arrangement with them where they get their pay from match revenue,” Butao explained.

He said his club has not paid these players for several weeks now because the team is not playing competitive games.

Butao said his club does not have any loose money since the sponsor, Be Forward Limited, send funds allocated to specific budget lines like wages, rentals, game bonuses and other requirements
