TNM alongside its partners Huawei and Old Mutual has donated K24 million to Red Cross Society of Malawi to assist people that were affected by floods in the northern part of the country.

This is the third time TNM has responded towards the devastating floods in the region.

TNM donated K15 million, Huawei K7 million while Old Mutual contributed K2 million.

TNM Chief Commercial Officer, Daniel Makata, said it is not the duty of the government alone to provide assistance to those affected by the floods disaster.

“We felt as companies who work together, we should come up with something to help our friends in the northern region. TNM thanks both Huawei and Old Mutual for their generosity and coming to the rescue. This is the beauty of partnership,” he said.

Huawei Country Director, Wan Wen, said the company has been in the country for some time and felt obliged to support those affected by the disaster.

Wen said Huawei commits its support to the country’s socio-economic development.

“This is part of our corporate social responsibility and we pledge to continue supporting Malawians in different ways,” he said.

Red Cross president Levison Changole said TNM is a true partner who is always there in times of need and lives to its promises.

Changole said TNM has led by example and the corporate world should emulate this example.

“Red Cross is auxiliary to the government in the provision of humanitarian services. Let me assure you that we will make sure that the monetary support received today, will be used to complement the existing flood response and recovery efforts in the affected district,” he said.
