Who comes top in Airtel Trace Music Star tonight?

The Airtel Trace Music Star Top 10 show held in Blantyre last month was spectacular and the best five were selected.

But now the best five have to battle it out once again to select the winner, who will represent Malawi at the Pan African contest to be held in Nigeria.

The five will battle it out during the national final to be held at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) Umodzi Park in Lilongwe Friday night.

And the national final promises to be more spectacular as the judges of musicians Patience Namadingo, Rina and Theo Thomson will perform.

Namadingo is way up with his latest album Lero; Theo will also be launching his latest album White Elephant on June 5, 2016 while Rina is also working on new songs.

“This is not just the grand final but people will experience the best in terms of entertainment and as Trace we are excited with the way things have gone,” said Trace Malawi representative Annie Chisala.

Chisala said renowned Kenyan DJ Joe Mfalme, who performed at the Pan African contest last year will be part of the grand finale.

“People need to get to the venue in time and those who are on the guest list let them check details otherwise once we start recording no one will be allowed in,” she said.

The five contestants battling it out tonight are Chisomo Chichi Nteteka, Ruth Kulaisi and Triza Chatata from Lilongwe, Madalitso Fazili from Blantyre and Kallista Kalele from Zomba.

The five have been in the limelight calling for votes from people ahead of the finale.

“Ahead of the final the five have undergone mentorship done by last year’s winner Sam Mjura Mkandawire so there is a lot to show the audience,” said Chisala.

Unlike last year when Mjura Mkandawire pocketed K14 million on the local front as the winner, this time around the prize money has been split with the winner set to walk away with K10 million while second and third will receive K3 million and K2 million respectively.

Having successfully hosted the Top 10 show in Blantyre which was produced by Times Television, Times Television presenters Wezie Kasambala and Mr 265 will also host the grand final.

Trace in conjunction with Airtel Malawi is driving the competition in the country.
