Cezobal courts Bushiri on K50m sponsorship

Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) has written Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, appealing for K50 million sponsorship to cater for the league’s endeavours.

The league’s Chairperson, Hellen Chabunya, confirmed the request, saying the league was hopeful of securing sponsorship from Bushiri.

“Cezobal comprises members of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) community, and it noted with great interest that the prophet has established a sporting academy in South Africa. This cemented our belief that the man of God has passion for developing young people and cementing Africa’s footprint on the world stage,” Chabunya said yesterday.

“They say charity begins at home, and it is our humble hope that as we are getting no assistance from our duty bearers, the prophet will empower Cezobal to reach out to Malawi’s urban and rural youth that are increasingly denied fair life chances.”

Chabunya said if they secure sponsorship, they intend to renovate and construct basketball courts and purchase equipment.

The league has been without sponsorship for many years, and each team contributes towards the running of the league games.

Recently, Bushiri donated K44 million to the Malawi national football team, the Flames, before facing Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations.
