The Judiciary says it is still gathering evidence on a case in which a Third Grade Magistrate in Mzimba is alleged to have assaulted a woman.
Judiciary spokesperson Mlenga Mvula said the case will be taken to court once investigations on the matter are complete.
He dismissed fears that the authorities are delaying on the case because the suspect involved is from the Judiciary.
“The magistrate is still under investigation to get what transpired and conclude whether he is really an offender or not,” said Mlenga.
The magistrate, Tobias Sibale, was arrested last year in December in Mzimba after a 22-year old woman had reported to Kafukule Police Unit in the district that Sibale sexually abused her.
Sibale hails from Temwamkondo village in the area of Traditional Authority Wenya in Chitipa.
