Times Television continues its exploits in the world of quality production as it has once again partnered Airtel Malawi and Trace to produce the Airtel Trace Music Star top 10 show to be held at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre on April 24, 2016.

Last year Times Television also produced the Airtel Trace Music Star Season I which was also held at the same venue and saw Lilongwe-based artist Sam Mjura Mkandawire emerge winner on the local front pocketing K14 million.

Mkandawire went on to represent Malawi on the Pan- African platform where he came sixth.

“We are enthused to once more partner with the two progressive global brands (Airtel and Trace) to produce yet another world class Airtel Trace Music Star top 10 show this year.

“Leading is our way of life. We will always give our physical audience and Times TV viewers the best as we continue to set the pace in high end TV productions,” he said.

The top 10 will see, five being picked for the national final. The winner this time is expected to walk away with K10 million with second and third pocketing K3 million and K2 million respectively.

Airtel Malawi Brands and Communication Manager Isabel Kachinjika said recently that they were happy to partner Times Television once again in Season II which has received an overwhelming response this time around.

The overwhelming response forced them to extend the entry period in the competition from March 27, 2016 to April 17, 2016.

“There will be two events, the top 10 in Blantyre on April 24, 2016 and then the national finale on May 6, 2016,” said Kachinjika.

The official mentor for the competition’s Season II is American singer, songwriter, actress and record producer Keri Hilson.

Last year’s mentor was multi-award winning musician Akon.

Niger is a new recruit this year joining Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Zambia.

To participate, contestants need to call in a short code number with their mobile phones, record their songs to stand a chance to become the next big music star in Africa.

Last year the grand finale was held in Kenya but this time it will be held in Lagos, Nigeria.
