Blantyre retailer wins generator in Chibuku Super promo

Blantyre-base Chibuku Super retailer, Stanley Makochi, was all smiles on Friday after emerging winner in Chibuku Products Limited’s (CPL) ‘Tiamwere Promotion’.

The promotion, which was aimed at promoting Chibuku Super, was launched on December 14 last year and ended on February 29 this year. It targeted both retailers and consumers.

CPL Southern Region sales and distribution manager, Francis Nundwe, said the company was satisfied with the response from consumers and retailers.

Nundwe said over 100 customers won assorted prizes in the course of the competition, among them T-shirts, bags of fertiliser, bicycles, motorcycles and shopping vouchers.

“We launched the promotion in December because we knew that, being a festive season, the competition would offer us the opportunity to celebrate with our customers and retailers. Consumers already won a number of prizes. Today [Friday], we have given out the biggest prize of a generator to the retailer who sold more Chibuku Super than others,” Nundwe said.

On his part, Makochi, who owns Coachman Bar in Blantyre, said he was happy to be the recipient of the top prize.

“I will not sell the generator. Power outages are a problem in my area of operation and the generator will go a long way in ensuring that power interruptions do not disrupt my business,” said Makochi.

Ironically, Makochi’s bar was attacked by some irate Blantyre residents a couple of weeks ago. They ransacked the shop and destroyed over four refrigerators.

In another development, CPL on Friday drilled distributors and retailers of its products in business skills.

Consultant trainer, Wise Chauluka, said the training would help distributors and retailers remain relevant in a competitive business world.

“The training is part of SABMiller [which owns CPL] World Initiative aimed at building the skills of retailers. We want to help them beat the competition by, among other initiatives, ensuring that they are introducing initiatives that attract customers,” Chauluka said.
