A month after releasing Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango prematurely, Bloemfontein Celtic coach, Serame Letsoaka, has admitted that the departure of the Malawi national football team striker was a huge blow.
“I think I made it very clear that when Gabadinho left. You should remember how well he was playing with [Thabiso] Morena and [Lerato] Lamola, so it was definitely a loss when Gabadinho left the team,” Letsoaka told www. kickoff.com.
Celtic pushed the Flames striker out after learning that he had signed a pre-contract with Bidvest Wits.
Mhango, who is on loan at Golden Arrows, will join Wits in June when he is expected to pen a three-year contract.
Letsoaka admitted that the Malawian left big boots to fill in attack.
“But we didn’t have any control over the situation and we had to play the other players that are in the team. We still have [Geoffrey] Massa in the team, we still have [Helder] Pelembe in the team, who are all equally as good, and we are doing everything that we can to make sure that they are also ready,” he added.
The former Big Bullets forward Mhango is enjoying game-time in South Africa alongside Atusaye Nyondo, Limbikani Mzava and Robert Ng’ambi.
Meanwhile, Celtic’s controversial owner, Max Tshabalala, has put the team up for sale after being insulted by supporters following last week’s 1-0 loss to Orlando Pirates.
