West African musician Angelique Kidjo’s, Sings has won this years Best World Music Album trouncing Malawi’s Zomba Prison Project at this year’s grammy awards.
The other nominated albums in the category were Gilbertos Samba by Ao Vivo, Music From Inala by Ladysmith Black Mambazo With Ella Spira & The Inala Ensemble, Home by Anoushka Shankar and I Have No Everything Here by Zomba Prison Project produced Ian Brennan.
Zomba Prison Project have made a record for being the first ever grammy nominees from Malawi.
