Man building helicopter in Dowa

by

Felix Kambwiri, a resident of Madisi Trading Centre in Dowa, is building a helicopter using local materials.

Kambwiri, 45, who is a welder at Madisi Trading Centre, said he has finished fixing a motor cycle engine to a propeller and he is in the process of welding its housing.

He explained that he started building the helicopter in October 2015 but the idea was hatched in 1998.

“The building process has delayed due to electricity and financial problems and my plans are that after finishing building it, I will take it to an open ground for testing,” said Kambwiri.

The Standard 8 dropout is optimistic that the project would be successful.
