Renowned golfers, Roza Mbilizi and Christofel Bulawayo dominated the Into Sports golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club on Saturday.
Mbilizi, playing off handicap 10, emerged champion in the ladies category when she collected 37 points.
The championship summed up Mbilizi’s terrific performance on the day when she also dominated the individual awards.
Mbilizi won the nearest -to- the pin on the 14th hole before winning the longest drive on the 15th.
Diana Kambale, playing off handicap 28, was second after amassing 32 points.
Mbilizi said she found the going easy because the greens were in perfect condition, and she warned her opponents that she intends to continue from where she left off last year.
“I really enjoyed my golf. The conditions were good and it was easy for me to play well. I would like to keep up my form and win many tournaments this year,” she said.
In men’s category, Bulawayo playing off handicap 18, was counted in after collecting 37 points to win emerge the winner.
Yohane Mzuza, playing off handicap 16, was counted out after accumulating 37 points to finish second John-Gift Mwakhwawa, playing off handicap 10, finished third when he collected 36 points.
The winners walked away with top of the range golf bags.
Bulawayo said he did not know that he could win but made it a point to take it slowly as it was wet because of the rains.
He declared that he will continue to train hard as he is targeting to win at least three tournaments this year having only won one last year.
Into sports managing director, Shabir Ismael, said he decided to sponsor golf because he is into sports merchandise business and that most golfers are his clients.
He expressed happiness with the turn up despite the rains and announced that Into Sports will be holding another tournament in Lilongwe in August.
Blantyre Sports Club golf captain, Webster Kaunga, thanked Into Sports for sponsoring and offering beautiful prizes and said the club will be busy with tournaments this year.
There were 73 golfers (64 men and 9 ladies) who competed.
