Carlsberg employees over the New Year festivity period took time to cheer pediatric patients at the Sobo Oncology ward of the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
Apart from cheering the young patients; Carlsberg also donated assorted items including 30 mosquito nets. Carlsberg communications manager Towela Munthali said the mosquito nets were donated as a response to a hospital’s request.
Pediatric oncologist Dr. George Chagaluka thanked Carlsberg for the donation. He said the ward started with 2 beds, then 8, before being expanded to what it is today. Chagaluka said the ward treats around 214 cancer patients per year from all parts of the country.
Carlsberg has sponsored the Sobo oncology ward since 1997. In the picture, Chagaluka (2nd right) receives some of the donated items from Munthali (right).
