Former welterweight champion, Limbani Masamba, has been given a chance to vie for a super welterweight belt against Ernest Msolidza at Robins Park in Blantyre on December 18,2015.
Initially, Limbani’s elder brother, Wilson, was supposed to meet Raston Kayira for the local featherweight belt at the same venue and date.
However, following Wilson’s embarrassing defeat in Namibia where he was knocked out in 47 seconds of the four-round contest, he will be ineligible to fight for the next three months.
The defeat shook up the bill, forcing No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions managing director, Craig Rousseau, to come up with another set of boxers.
“The bill was already there and we have simply brought it forward,” he said.
Following the changes, Kayira will now face Malawi Defence Force boxer, Crispin Moliati, in an eight-round lightweight non-title contest.
Meanwhile, Rousseau did not hide his disappointment after six boxers suffered embarrassing defeats in Namibia.
Apart from Wilson, Moze Mahilasi was also knocked out in the first round. Chikondi Makawa and Alick Gogodo were knocked out in the second round, whereas Tinkhani Kamanga retired in the fourth round.
“It is only promoters that are busy funding these boxers. If we had corporate support to fully support the boxers, I don’t think the results could have been the same,” he said.
