Domestic marathon king, Henry Moyo, has received the all-clear for a doping test he underwent after emerging third during a recent 68km Cape Town Ultra-Marathon held in South Africa.
Moyo will now finally pocket his prize money R40,000 [K1.7 million], the Zomba police officer confirmed yesterday.
“I am just waiting for the organisers to wire the money. I was waiting for the results before committing myself to the Heroes Race which will also take place in South Africa at the end of the month,” he said yesterday.
The athlete, who is in his early 40s, had a nasty experience seven years ago when he was stripped of his Kuala Lumpur Marathon title and K1 million prize money after he failed a doping test.
Moyo then claimed that he had taken flue medication before the race.
Moyo is a record domestic marathon winner having been crowned champion of the now defunct Nico Marathon four times.
