Chief Kawazamawe of Rumphi has asked Big Bullets FC to fulfill the financial pledge it allegedly made to the family of the late player Douglas Chirambo.
Kawazamawe told The Daily Times on Tuesday that the family was failing to hold on to its patience over the unfulfilled pledge of over K400,000, including half of the proceeds the team realised from Go TV cup which it failed to defend against Moyale Barracks in Mzuzu in April this year.
“After we buried Douglas, we asked BB delegation if he died in vain and whether as a family we will benefit anything (Chirambo) having played for the club for over 10 years,” Kawazamawe, who was speaking on behalf of the deceased’s family, said.
“The officials said the club would give over K400,000 plus half the prize money of the GoTV, something we appreciated.”
But Bullets trustee, Ruth Chenda Mkandawire, said currently the club has no money to fulfill the pledge.
She said the club was busy paying back loans that the former executive took on behalf of the club.
Bullets second vice chairperson, Austin Kasito, dismissed the claim that the club pledged half the proceeds from GoTV Cup.
The late Chirambo died in April this year at Thyolo hospital after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and was buried at Lombolwe village at Bolero in Rumphi.
