Veteran journalist Raphael Tenthani dead

BBC correspondent and Times Group prolific columnist Raphael Tenthani is dead.

Tenthani died in a car accident on Saturday night, when the car he was travelling in from Ntcheu to Blantyre overturned at Kam’mwamba along M1 road.

Tenthani who sustained serious head injuries died on arrival at Mlambe Hospital, as he had lost a lot of blood.

He traveled to his home village with his with his brother, two children and personal friend.

The other four sustained various injuries during the accident.

His two children are admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.

Tenthani was well-known for his popular column “Muckraking on Sunday” that appeared in The Sunday Times.

His body is at College of Medicine and burial is expected to take place tomorrow (Monday) at his home village Sharpe Valley in Ntcheu.
