Kamuzu Barracks coach, Temwa Msuku’s hopes of having a full-strength squad in the TNM Super League has received a big boost as captain Davie Banda returns to the squad this week.
Banda was in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on peace keeping mission.
In an interview, Msuku said the return of Banda will give him several options in the midfield.
“Davie is a true leader. We have young players in the squad so we need him to inspire them in the league,” said Msuku.
The former Mafco coach was confident that KB would do well this season after a tough campaign last year.
“We struggled last season, but this season the team is playing well. All the players are in shape and we are ready to challenge for the Super League title this season,” added Msukwa.
In the absence of Banda, KB coach was forced to redeploy attacking midfielder Harvey Nkacha in a holding role.
On Tuesday, Nkacha also said the return of Banda will boost the team’s morale in the TNM Super League.
“He is one of the best players in the country and we missed his services during the first three games. We always need his services because he works hard for the team,” said Nkacha.
KB are on position eight in the TNM Super League with four points after playing three games.
