3 clubs eye Raphael Phiri

Civil Sporting Club talented striker Raphael Phiri is on the ladder of Mozambican giants Costa do Sol, TNM Super League giants, Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers.

Civil General Secretary, Ronald Chiwawula, confirmed that the clubs have inquired about the striker.

“He is hot property because several clubs have already started knocking on our door. Raphael has a running contract with us but he has a buy-out clause, so we will see the way forward,” Chiwawula said.

Chiwawula said Costa wants to sign Phiri in January.

“He is our captain and an important player for us. He has been scoring goals for Civil and we want to keep him,” he said.

Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, said Phiri is a great player, who every club would want to sign.

“He is a very good player and we wanted to sign him before the start of the season. I think he has the quality to play for any team in the country,” he said.

Silver General Secretary, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, could not be reached as we went to press.

The domestic transfer window is expected to open during the Super League’s mid-season break.

Phiri is the second leading league goal-scorer with eight goals, two goals behind Stain Davie of TN Stars.
