Southern Region Pool League Chairperson, Dave Mallunga, has resigned, claiming that the sport has been turned into a political arena.
In his resignation letter dated April 18, 2017, Mallunga hit at Malawi Pool Association (Mapa) for allegedly being biased when dealing with its affiliates.
“It is with deep regret that I tender my resignation [letter] as Chairman of the Southern Region Pool League with immediate effect,” he wrote.
“Mapa is a mother body which has to take interests, in its affiliates without bias or personal vendettas.”
Mallunga did not go into specifics but vowed to spill the beans over Mapa’s alleged poor administration.
He added that there were issues which he raised with Mapa but the mother body neither acknowledged nor responded.
“I have done this for the past six months. This is a confirmation that either the issues are not important or your secretariat feels otherwise. I have copies of these [letters]. I wish you all the best as you prepare for elections and new office bearers for the regions,” he said.
Mapa President, Chikondi Mbewe, confirmed receiving Mallunga’s resignation letter, saying the association will not push him to rescind his decision.
“This is a voluntary position and he is free to step down. We thank him for the service he rendered to the sport,” he said.
