Aglow Women International (AWI), a Christian Organisation in Mzuzu City, says children with physical challenges can be groomed into better citizens if parents and guardians can invest in their education.

Vice president of the organisation, Stella Mwangonde, made the remarks at St Mary Magdalene Campus when AWI cheered children with physical challenges on Saturday, in Rumphi district.

“As a Christian organisation, our role is to proclaim the message of the kingdom of God and share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. So our visit here is a blessing to the children. However, parents also need to invest so much in educating children with physical challenges.” she said.

The women donated various items to the school including books and sanitary pads among others, worthy K100, 000.

According to Mwangonde the donation was made to improve the living standards of the children.

Mwangonde added the women organisation will continue supporting the children with physical challenges so they complete their education and become responsible citizens in the society.

She furthered advised fellow women in the country to support children with physical challenges so that they can be like any other children in the society.

In her remarks, patron of St Mary Magdelene, Sister Cathy Mlenga, commended the organisation for the donation saying it will ease some of the problems the children are facing at the campus.

Mlenga appealed to AWI to do the same to other physically challenged children in the country and urged other organisations to emulate what Aglow Women International has done.
