Retail chain PTC has officially opened Spar Ginnery Corner in Blantyre promising a unique customer experience in an industry that is highly competitive.
This brings the total number of Spar stores in the country to three, all licensed to PTC, a subsidiary of conglomerate Press Corporation Limited.
PCL Group Chief Executive Officer, George Partridge, described the opening of the new shop as a milestone in the vision of PCL to dominate the market in the various industries that its subsidiaries are operating.
“This is a turning point for our clients and prospective customers and they should expect the best shopping experience matching international standards,” he said.
He was speaking during the official opening of the new outlet in Blantyre on Wednesday evening.
Two years ago, PTC was granted a licence to operate the Spar franchise in the country. Since then, the retail chain has opened three Spar outlets, one in Lilongwe and two in Blantyre.
Looking forward, Partridge said the conglomerate will continue to reinvent and support its companies to maintain competitive advantage in their various industries.
Spar International Representative, Keith Heywood, said he is optimistic that the partnership will continue to create more jobs for many Malawians now and in the future.
“We are happy that PTC is meeting the standards we set and chances are high that we will open more shops in the days to come,” he said.
Spar Ginnery Corner is sitting on 2,000m2 floor space with various sections including an eatery, butchery, beauty parlour, fruit and veggie and bakery, among others.
