Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC) has challenged Nyasa Big Bullets to win the Wafawafa Big-Four bonanza set for this weekend at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
NMC Chairperson, Konrad Buckle, made the remarks after presenting training equipment worth K5.6 million to the team at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
“If you can look at the players and members of the technical panel, they are all happy. This means everything is in order. We have no doubt that the team will do well in the bonanza,” Buckle said after presenting 40 pairs of boots, balls and ladders, among others.
The relationship between the sponsor and the team seems to have normalised.
A few weeks ago, NMC announced that they had suspended their K500 million five-year sponsorship to the team following disagreements between the team’s Board of Trustees and the Supporters Committee over commercialisation.
In response to NMC’s challenge at the stadium, Bullets Coach, Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, said his charges were motivated to win the two-day bonanza.
“It always feels good when a sponsor lives up to their expected obligation. Nyasa Manufacturing has given us what we need and we need to deliver on the pitch,” he said.
Ramadhan said the bonanza will help the technical panel to assess the squad.
“We will look at coordination and other technical aspects of the game,” he said.
Bullets face rivals Be Forward Wanderers tomorrow with the winner dating, on Sunday, either Silver Strikers or Kamuzu Barracks, who will clash in the other semi-final.
The losers will meet in a third-place play-off also on Sunday.
