Squash Malawi has started registering players for the three-day General Alliance Squash Tournament set for College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre from April 8.
The association’s Vice-President, Gordon Benbow, said they expect 30 players to take part in the tournament.
The players will be drawn from two leagues.
“The tournament is crucial to the development of squash in Malawi,” he said.
Benbow said they were excited with the strides which junior players have made in squash.
He hailed General Alliance’s support of the tournament.
“[Our] relationship with the sponsor is excellent as we have had [this] sponsorship for over five years,” he said.
Last year, James Matewere underlined his class by retaining the championship for the men’s main division for a third successive time.
During the same tournament, Benbow won the Plate Division championship.
