Alliance Capital in crucial meet

Southern Region blossoming netball side, Alliance Capital Stars are expected to brainstorm this week as they brace for life without a sponsor.

Stars are yet to stop using the name of their sponsor, Alliance Capital Limited (ACL), five months after the company withdrew its support to the team following a fallout with Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) over players’ transfers.

The team’s Chairperson, Dalitso Chinyama, said they would meet on Saturday to, among others, strategise on persuading ACL to reverse its decision.

“This is why we are still using the name. We will also discuss on whether we can survive without a sponsor.

“Obviously as a team we did not live up to the sponsors’ expectations but there were also some factors that contributed to that [ACL’s withdrawal]. We feel that we should be given another chance,” she said.

Reports indicate that Nam officials also met ACL management to persuade the company to change its decision.
