Kamuzu Barracks’ (KB) gaffer, Billy Phambala, has warned his charges not to underrate two remaining opponents as the battle for the TNM Super League championship reaches a climax.
The soldiers defeated Blue Eagles 2-0 at Nankhaka Stadium on Sunday to maintain top spot with 55 points with two games remaining.
Defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets are on second position with 54 points followed by Silver Strikers on 53 points.
However, Phambala believes that the soldiers have better chances of winning their first ever league championship.
“We have two tricky fixtures and we must treat the games as cup finals,” Phambala said ahead of away games against Karonga United and Dwangwa United this weekend and on December 31 respectively.
Bullets have also tricky home fixtures against Civo United and Eagles whereas Silver meet Mafco and Be Forward Wanderers.
Bullets’ Team Manager, Rahim Ishmael, has also said his side must exercise caution in the remaining games.
“We need to unite as a family and make sure that we collect maximum points,” Ishmael said.
Silver’s assistant Coach, Lovemore Fazili, has also refused to throw in the towel.
“We are still in the race and we are only focusing on our games,” Fazili said after beating Karonga 5-0 on Sunday.
Down the table, Civo’s survival in the league hangs by a thread as they are stuck in the relegation zone with just 21 points.
