Moyale Barracks FC’s skipper, Gastin Simkonda, is out for two weeks due to an injury, Team Manager, Victor Chingoka, has confirmed.
Simkonda is likely to miss the Lions of Kaning’ina’s TNM Super League clash with title contenders, Blue Eagles, next week.
Chingoka, however, insisted that the team has other attacking options.
“Gastin is taller, which makes him good with aerial balls. He causes opposition’s defenders a lot of problems. He is always missed when he is not in the squad,” he said.
The Flames’ striker returned to Moyale’s squad this year after spending the the 2015 season away in Cote d’Ivoire on peace-keeping mission.
The forward, who in 2014 snubbed South African National First Division sides, Jomo Cosmos and Black Leopards, for peacekeeping military duties, confirmed that he tore right ankle ligaments.
Simkonda netted 18 goals in 2014 Super League season to become the first Moyale player to claim the Golden Boot Award.
