Mike Kalulu, Regina Mwanza win Nico Life golf

Lilongwe-based golfer, Mike Kalulu, stole the show at Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) when he emerged champion of Nico Life golf tournament on Saturday.

Boasting a handicap of 20, Kalulu earned the bragging rights after collecting 40 points, beating a pool of 79 golfers.

Playing off handicap eight, Justin Mkandawire came second with 37 points followed by Thakor Sanjay (handicap 11) on 36 points.

Kalulu was on cloud nine, thanking Nico Life for sponsoring the competition.

“It was a difficult competition but I played with determination,” Kalulu said.

In the ladies’ category, Regina Mwanza won her second trophy in seven days when she was crowned as the champion for the ladies’ category of Nico Life golf .

Mwanza collected 38 points followed by Jochebed Mpanda, who counted out Sue Makin on 37 points. Makin came third.

Nico Life Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Osman Karim, said they were grateful for the huge turnout, saying the competition was organised to interact with Lilongwe clients.

“We would like to thank our customers in Lilongwe for supporting us all the time,” Karim said.

After the prize presentation, Nico Life donated K500, 000 to Association of People with Albinism (Apam).

The company also donated K150, 000 to LGC for the maintenance of the greens.
