MTV Max Bullets’ quest for revenge and maximum points should be a motivation when meeting Be Forward Wanderers in a TNM Super League first-round match at Kamuzu Stadium this afternoon.
The two teams met two weeks ago when Wanderers won 2-1 a Presidential Cup quarterfinal at the same venue, thanks to Isaac Kaliyati’s bullet and striker Peter Wadabwa’s expert finish from the dreaded spot.
Mayeso Mphanje, ironically a former Nomad, did score through an inch-perfect free-kick to crawl back some respectability to the Trevor Kajawa side, but in the end, Wanderers’ quality prevailed.
With Mphanje playing as a false striker, running on the heels of defenders to link up play with striker Frazer Menyani, Max can be handy on their day.
The only problem is that they anchor the 16-member table with four points from 11 games, and time is not on their side.
Things are not looking good in the blue side of Blantyre City, as Wanderer’s season is behaving like a see-saw: up today and down tomorrow.
The inconsistent Wanderers lost 1-0 to Moyale Barracks on Saturday to exit the cup, hence the Nomads cannot afford another slip up within five days.
Coach Eddingtone Ng’onamo has Carlsberg Cup and the league to salvage something from a misbehaving season. Wanderers have 13 points from eight games.
Wadabwa, who scored a hat-trick two weeks ago to earn the Nomads their first league home win after beating Red Lions 3-1, carries Wanderers’ scoring hope.
