Civo United snatched a late winner on Sunday to secure valuable points when they defeated Wizards FC 1-0 at Civo Stadium in an entertaining TNM Super League match.
Forgotten forward Charles Chirembo netted in the dying minutes to push Civo to position nine with 15 points from 11 games.
As expected, Wizards displayed classic football, but they were let down by poor finishing, including having Civo goalkeeper, Innocent Phiri, saving a second-half penalty.
Civo coach Millias Pofera said the victory was important, adding “I salute the players for playing according to instructions.”
Wizards Technical Director, Peter Mponda, was disappointed with the loss, but said his charges played well.
In other games played on Sunday, Red Lions beat MTV Max Bullets 2-1 at Zomba Community Ground, whereas Moyale Barracks and Azam Tigers drew 0-0 at Mzuzu Stadium.
