Harold Lungu, Marques shine in FMB golf

After a disappointing spell, renowned golfer Harold Lungu bounced back when he won the inaugural FMB golf tournament at Thyolo Sports Club on Sunday.

Lungu won the men’s category with Sheron Marques topping the ladies’ section.

Lungu dubbed it as an emotional victory because some quarters were questioning his form after failing to win a trophy for a year.

“I promised them that I will showcase my prowess during the FMB golf tournament. I am glad that even though I have health issues following an attack, I am regaining my shape,” Lungu said.

Playing off handicap 10, Lungu had three pars, including two on the back nine, to score 44 stableford points and 79 other golfers.

In the ladies’ section, Marques had a double celebration when she won the women’s section and nearest to-the pin. She scored 39 points.

“I thank my playing partners and our golf captain for inspiring me to start playing golf again,” she said.

FMB Head of Marketing, Sylvia Mataka, said the tournament lived up to its billing and they were satisfied.

“This is our first tournament here and it was over-subscribed. We also took advantage of the competition to explain to our clients the difference between corporate and business accounts,”
