Former Airtel Malawi Ambassador Piksy real name Evans Zangazanga famed for the hit ‘Uncle Short One,’ leaves the country Friday for the United Kingdom where he is expected to perform at the Malawi Achievers Awards Saturday.

Piksy said on Thursday that he was excited to perform in the United Kingdom for the first time.

“This will be my first time to perform there so I want to impress and show what Malawi is made of,” said the musician, who was nominated in this year’s Kora Awards, which is yet to be held.

Piksy will perform at the event alongside ‘Tsika Msungwana’ star Sonyezo Kandoje alias Sonye.

“Sonye left Wednesday and I am leaving today. But we are all prepared. We already sent our songs for the band to practise, we have been linking online and it is going to be great,” said Piksy.

The Malawi Achievers Awards will be held in Birmingham, at the red carpet purpose-built CSN International Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The awards are hosted by Malawi Association UK (MAUK), an umbrella body for all Malawian chapter and local association and Malawian groups.

It was established in 2014 to recognise and identify deserving unsung heroes and heroines of Malawian decency and making a difference in their communities and tirelessly and selflessly work hard to inspire others.

MAUK said they are excited to have Sonye and Piksy as performers to an already packed lineup for this year ’s ceremony.

Apart from Piksy and Sonye, the other artists performing at the event are Scotland-based Malawian artist Sean Focus.

The others are Osei Boi and Great Adams from Ghana, Kazz aka Mr Boomslang of the ‘Amina Kadeya’ fame.
