Exciting and hard-hitting action is expected Saturday when Malawi National Rugby Championship comes to a close with the national finals at Bishop Mackenzie Ground in Lilongwe.
Southern Region champions Blantyre Sports Club would represent the region alongside Sports Complex Jaguars that finished second with 20 points.
Jaguars have made history by qualifying for the 15s league national finals for the first time after finishing second in the Sevens League last year.
The hosts, Lilongwe, would be represented by Lilongwe Rugby Club and Venom Rugby Club.
According to the league’s director, Yuk-yen Auyeung, Blantyre Sports Club would face Lilongwe Rugby Club in the championship game. The match promises fireworks since both clubs completed their regional leagues undefeated.
Before the giants square up, Sports Complex Jaguars would face Venom in a third place play-off.
This year’s league saw an improvement in the number of participating teams from four to 10 overall (six in the South and four in the Centre).
Auyeung urged rugby fans to patronise the finals, saying the inclusion of more indigenous Malawians in the teams was an added advantage.
The champions would receive a trophy and jerseys.
