Foreign clubs target Big Bullets trio

TNM Super League champions, Nyasa Big Bullets, are preparing for life without their three star players next season as they have been shortlisted as transfer targets for foreign clubs.

Bullets’ technical director, Billy Tewesa, confirmed on Wednesday that Yamikani Fodya was a target of Danish clubs while Super League top scorer, Chiukepo Msowoya and defender Miracle Gabeya were targets for South Africa clubs.

Tewesa said the club was yet to get transfer offers for the players, but the technical panel would meet this weekend to plan on the way forward.

“We have information that the players might leave for trials soon. We will sit down to plan for the next course of action because they are our key players. We have plans to loan out and off-load some players. All that will also depend on the outcome of the three players’ transfers. The outcome will give us guidance on who to sign and who to off-load,” he said.

The club’s general secretary, Kelvin Moyo, said they are targeting four players during the transfer window.

“We do not want to buy a lot of players because we increased the players’ wages therefore, we want a manageable squad. We will sign experienced players to add strength to the team which did well last season. Our sponsors have given us big targets for next season therefore we do not want to disappoint them. We want to return to Caf Champions League next season,” he said.

Moyo said they want a squad of 25 players next season. Last season, Bullets had 27 players after adding Nikiza Aimabre, Chikondi Likwemba and McFarlane Ngwira in the second round.

In an interview with Times Television, Msowoya said: “I cannot force a move away from Bullets. If I successfully clinch a deal with a foreign club, then it was meant to be.”
