Thunder Queens coach, Mary Waya, will not be available for her sides crucial tie against defending champions, Kukoma Diamonds, as the battle for the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League intensifies.<\/p>\n
Thunder and Diamonds meet on Saturday at Blantyre Youth Centre.<\/p>\n
Waya\u2019s troops are definitely out of the race, but a win for them would help restore their battered image.<\/p>\n
However, a loss for Diamonds would damage their title defence aspirations as they chase run-away leaders, Complex Tigresses.<\/p>\n
Currently, Diamonds and Tigresses are tied at 42 points each. Leaders Tigresses have won all their 13 games while Diamonds have played 14 games having lost once to Tigresses in a first round tie. Thunders lie third with 39 points.<\/p>\n
Waya will miss the game as she is pre-occupied with Mary Waya Netball Academy commitments. She is conducting netball and safety clinics in Machinga.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would have loved to be with the team but I can\u2019t because of an equally important assignment. My partners approved the training schedule so I can\u2019t change it. However, I prepared the team and I am sure the players will give out their best,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Thunder lost the first leg tie and they also went down to Tigresses in both first and second round games.<\/p>\n
Diamonds assistant coach, Noel Mussa, said with or without Waya, they would approach the game seriously.<\/p>\n
