{"id":9645,"date":"2015-10-02T10:47:44","date_gmt":"2015-10-02T10:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=9645"},"modified":"2015-10-02T10:47:44","modified_gmt":"2015-10-02T10:47:44","slug":"gomani-wrangle-turns-brutal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/10\/02\/gomani-wrangle-turns-brutal\/","title":{"rendered":"Gomani wrangle turns brutal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dust is refusing to settle in the chieftaincy dispute of the Gomani throne as the two conflicting factions have now resorted to violence at a time dialogue seems to fail the two sides.<\/p>\n<p>After <em>The Daily Times <\/em>reported that the Impi (elders of the Gomani family) stressed that Inkosi ya Makosi Mswati Willard Gomani V is still at the helm, on the other hand Inkosi Dingiswayo Gomani also insisted that he is the Inkosi ya Makosi.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Times <\/em>has learnt that Mateketa Phiri, who is suspected to be pro-Mswati, was assaulted on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Dingiswayo, Phiri and Ntcheu Police assistant publicist, Hastings Chigalu, confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n<p>However, Chigalu could not give details, saying the police were waiting for some additional reports as we went to press yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Dingiwayo, told <em>The Daily Times <\/em>that Phiri was assaulted because he insulted Dingiswayo\u2019s faction.<\/p>\n<p>Said Dingiswayo: \u201cI have just heard it from family members at Nkolimbo in Ntcheu that a member from the royal family identified as Mateketa was insulting us. So he has indeed been beaten but I must say that those who [beat] him are women none of us [men] were there\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On his part Phiri, who says has no position in the chieftaincy apart from being a royal family member, suspects that the entire incident was a set-up. He said the plot to have him assaulted started a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard that I was being summoned by our grandfather, Titus Gomani, at his home at Nkolimbo that was around 4pm when I was on my way to work. But when I got there, I found that Titus was not there instead I was welcomed by his niece, Ides Gama, who questioned my loyalty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe hit me with a strong wood but I did not revenge. I sustained injuries on the shoulder and arms,\u201d said Mateketa.<\/p>\n<p>But Dingiswayo, insists Mateketa provoked the wrath of his family leading to his assault by the women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at the whole scenario it tells you that this kingship is not in their hands. They know Mswati is illegitimate that\u2019s the reason they are causing all these things to tarnish the image of our family. But they know the truth that we [The Titus Gomani] family are the rightful successors to the throne.\u201d said Dingiswayo.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the current conflicts, Inkosi Mswati Willard Gomani V chased away his step mother, Inkosikati Rhoda Gomani, from the Nkosini.<\/p>\n<p>The development is said to have angered the Dingiswayo faction who attempted to stop the move.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dust is refusing to settle in the chieftaincy dispute of the Gomani throne as the two conflicting factions have now resorted to violence at a time dialogue seems to fail the two sides.
