Southern Region Volleyball League (SRVL) has disclosed plans to run a mini-league tournament in readiness for next season.<\/p>\n
SRVL chairperson, Pacharo Ngwira, said they have secured funding from Minister of Information, Jappie Mhango, who is also Volleyball Association of Malawi (Vam) president.<\/p>\n
Mhango will pump in K500,000 towards the mini-tournament that is expected to attract over 10 teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have been idle for so long. Before we think about the start of the league next season, it is important to hold a mini-tournament to enable players and teams prepare for the forthcoming season,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Ngwira paid tribute to Mhango for supporting the tournament at K500,000.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sponsorship has come at the right time when we least expected it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The SRVL chairperson said they would use the event to brainstorm before the start of the next season.<\/p>\n
The tournament is expected to start on Sunday at Blantyre Youth Centre where the committee intends to announce rules and regulations as well as format of the mini-league.<\/p>\n
There is also a possibility that some games would be played at Polytechnic Annexe court.<\/p>\n
Cobbe Artillery, Zingwanga Choppers, VTC Thunders, Lujeri, Naming\u2019omba and Matawale Spikers are some of the teams expected to participate in the competition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
