{"id":9586,"date":"2015-10-01T13:44:37","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T13:44:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=9586"},"modified":"2015-10-01T14:09:22","modified_gmt":"2015-10-01T14:09:22","slug":"flames-squad-surprises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/10\/01\/flames-squad-surprises\/","title":{"rendered":"Flames squad surprises"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Flames coach Ernest Mtawali\u2019s reign of surprises continued after he axed Be Forward Wanderers goalkeeper, Richard Chipuwa and striker Muhammed Sulumba from Tanzania-bound travelling party.<\/p>\n<p>Mtawali has since recalled Bloemfontein Celtic forward, Frank \u2018Gabadinho\u2019 Mhango ahead of next Wednesday\u2019s Fifa World Cup preliminary round qualifier against Tanzania\u2019s Taifa Stars at Benjamin Nkapa Stadium in Dara es salaam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/mtawali.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9589\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/mtawali.jpg\" alt=\"mtawali\" width=\"534\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a>Mtawali has also included Mozambique based goalkeeper Simplex Nthala, rookie Levison Maganizo of Fisd Wizards whereas Azam Tigers\u2019 Yamikani Chester has been dropped. Former captain Joseph Kamwendo and defender Harry Nyirenda also remain out of the squad.<\/p>\n<p>Chipuwa\u2019s axing does not come as a surprise as he was faulted of letting in cheap goals when the Flames drew 2-2 with Swaziland in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier recently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have not been told the reasons for my exclusion. The coach knows better and I respect his decision. I was not expecting it. I have questions, but the answers are hard to get. I am football person, so I hope to bounce back from this,\u201d said Chipuwa, whose dropping comes after goalkeeper trainer, Phillip Nyasulu\u2019s release last week.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the squad yesterday during a press briefing at Chiwembe Technical Development Centre, Mtawali said the changes were made based on performance and game-plan, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout giving away much especially considering that we are now in a digital world [whether information spreads fast], we are playing away, but we won\u2019t play too deep. Just like we did in Swaziland, we will take the game to them while exercising caution at the same time by holding possession as much as we can,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mtawali concede that Tanzania were a transformed side having made strides as evidenced by their performance against African giants Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>He said the second phase of preparations would continue when professional players join the squad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be for a few days but we will make the best of it,\u201d he said.
