Talks are at an advanced stage with sponsors for us to acquire some equipment. Once that is done, the issue of squabbles surrounding players transfers will be a thing of the past,” Banda explained.

“We will have a website where local transfers will be done electronically. If money goes into an account for a team selling a particular player, then the other one will issue instructions and we will be clearing such players. Without money, such transfers cannot happen.”

Sulom vice-president, Daud Suleman, who is also an IT guru, yesterday confirmed that they were developing a software that will ensure a database for all footballers and officials.

“We will put it online and the firm that is developing this will be entitled to five percent from the revenue. Alot of money will be involved and we will also be able to generate revenue. We are working together with Fam,” Suleman explained.

Fisd Wizards chairperson, Mike Tembo, sampled the electronic transfer while at Silver Strikers when processing deals involving players such as striker Chawanangwa Kawonga to FC Chibuto in Mozambique.

“When you log onto the system, request for a player you want to buy, the other club responds with an estimated amount and it is done,”Tembo shared the feelgood experience.

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) facility and transfer matching system (TMS) manager, Casper Jangale, said he was not aware of Sulom’s project, which he, nonetheless, described as welcome.

“We are yet to be briefed. One way or another, such a system will need to be connected to ours. We can borrow a leaf from domestic transfer matching system which Fifa provides,” said Jangale who manages all international player transfers.

The system is meant to curb player-tapping and defaultment on players transfers with teams such as Wanderers owing Azam Tigers for three years in transfers for players including Mike Kaziputa.

Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao told MBC on Tuesday that the Nomads are determined to settle all debt and clear the bad image.

Imagine a TNM Super League team wants to buy a player, just logs onto Super League of Malawi (Sulom) website, makes an offer, pays electronically, then a transfer is done and dusted.
