Kamuzu Stadium management has attributed the absence of a \u2018dugouts\u2019 during domestic league games to vandalism.<\/p>\n
The facility was absent during two TNM Super League games played over the weekend. When Be Forward Wanderers hosted Kamuzu Barracks and Red Lions faced Big Bullets officials and players on the bench were exposed to sun.<\/p>\n
Ironically, the previous week, the stadium\u2019s management borrowed the dugouts from Chiwembe Technical Centre when the second round kicked-off.<\/p>\n
Stadium manager, Ambichire Mwaungulu, said it was unfortunate that the dugouts were vandalised during Independence Day Celebrations on July 6.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs you recall, the stadium was filled to capacity and we kept them at a place we thought was safe. Unfortunately, some people trampled on them as they were searching for a place to sit,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The manager said between July and two weeks ago, the stadium had been using dilapidated benches which were also dangerous to people using them.<\/p>\n
Mwaungulu said over K5 million was spent when the facility was also vandalised a few years ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs of now, we can\u2019t estimate how much it will cost us to renovate the facility,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mwaungulu said they were making arrangements to renovate the facilities before Flames host Tanzania in the return leg of the World Cup preliminary round qualifier on October 11 2015.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will work jointly with the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) to solve the issue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
