South Africa-based Malawian light heavyweight boxer, Isaac Chilemba\u2019s dreams for a world title have been revived after World Boxing Council (WBC) offered him a chance to vie for a final elimination fight against Colombian boxer, Eleider Alvarez.<\/p>\n
The final eliminator is set for November 14 2015 in Montreal, Canada and is subject to WBC\u2019s approaval.<\/p>\n
Chilemba confirmed in a brief e-mail yesterday, saying he was looking forward to battle.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently, I am making plans to travel to the United States to team up with my trainer Buddy McGrit to continue with my preparations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Colombian boxer is best known for winning the 2007 Pan American Games in the men\u2019s light heavyweight division. Alvarez, 31, and also holds an impressive record having won all career 18 fights, including 10 knockouts.<\/p>\n
The Malawian, 28, has fought 28 times winning 24 fights, losing twice and drawing two times.<\/p>\n
Recently, Chilemba opted to forego the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title offer in preference of the WBC title eliminator.<\/p>\n
Chilemba was faced with a difficult decision regarding his future in the division after he received offers from two major sanctioning organisations to fight for mandatory positions.<\/p>\n
The first offer came from IBF against Artur Beterbiev and the last one came from WBC.<\/p>\n
Chilemba won the North American Boxing Federation (NABF) light heavyweight title after beating Vasily Lepikhin on unanimous\u2019 points decision on March 14 2015 at Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
